Last night The Girl Scouts of Southern Alabama held their first annual Leading Ladies Awards Reception at Moes Original Barbecue in Downtown Mobile, Alabama. This reception was dedicated to women who have shown excellence through their personal and professional achievements and their commitment to the community. Leading Ladies provides young girls with positive role models. It also demonstrates how “courage, confidence, and character” are traits that young women should possess to make the world a better place. District Attorney Ashley Rich was among the first women honored and she could not have been more thrilled to receive a award that was based on Girl Scouting principles.
“I am so honored to be one of the first recipients of the Girl Scouts Leading Lady Awards. I was a Brownie and a Girl Scout until 8th grade here in Mobile and my involvement with the Girl Scouts is one of the reasons I am so successful today. Girl Scouts taught me leadership and believing in myself. My mother, Cookie Rich, was my Girl Scout Troup leader and cookie sales chairman for many years. She even was a counselor at Camp Scoutshire Woods. Also, I am so proud as the District Attorney that we have the Girl Scout program in our Community to help other young women to succeed in whatever they choose to do with their life. For all of these reasons I was honored to receive this award. ”
