Every month the Mobile County District Attorney’s Office enjoys highlighting a standout employee! This month our employee spotlight is Kaila Williams. Our Youth and Family Services Director loves the fact that her career is centered around helping others. Her own personal struggles have allowed her to assess situations with first hand understanding and provided feedback that is invaluable. Kalia’s degree in social work from the University of South Alabama supplied her with an educational foundation that has been essential in helping her shape youth’s lives and improve their circumstances.
Upon completing her education, Kaila began her professional career at Alta point as a case worker. In 2017, Kaila decided to pursue a career with our office. As the director of Special Programs, Kaila heads multiple community initiatives such as Bully Blocker, Early Warning Truancy, and Youth and Family Services. Her position at MCDA has allowed her to practice social work on a micro, mezzo, and macro level. She loves being able to impact individual lives and the community as a whole. When asked what the most rewarding part of job was she stated,
“Being able to help those who feel like everyone has given up on them; extending them a second chance and sometimes a third. Giving and restoring hope to families and seeing transformation happen while walking them through the process.”
Kalia’s charitable works extend far beyond her professional duties. She serves on multiple boards including the Coalition Against Family Violence, the National Association of Social Workers, the Drug Education Council, the Underage Drinking Task Force, and Project Thrive. Yet, there was one non-profit that always called to Kaila: Big Brother Big Sisters. Her dream of serving her community as a Big finally became a reality this year! The most important lesson she has learned from her Little is, “To always enjoy the moment, and live life to the fullest!”

Bullying Prevention Week kick off event.
Growing up Kaila was blessed with unfailing support from her parents and her mentors Jeremy and Krystal Thrash. These role models taught her that striving to be above average is the first step towards success! In her free time, she embraces her artistic side. Kaila writes poetry, composes music, and is involved in a local comedy sketch called Socially Awkward. Above all else, her Faith is the most important thing in her life. It gives her purpose and is the driving force behind everything she does!
